LYLY - Apple is now selling four AirPods at once, from the second-generation in-ears to the on-ear AirPods Max, but none of these models can be called cheap.
According to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong Intl Tech Research, this is about to change:
AirPods Lite are in development, designed to compete with cheap headphones .
Pu also noted that the industry expects a drop in AirPods shipments: from 73 million units in 2022 to 63 million in 2023.
This will be affected by the weak interest in the AirPods 3, as well as the lack of new AirPods in the 2023 model line.
The analyst did not specify what the AirPods Lite will be - he only noted that they will be Apple's cheapest and will compete with low-cost models from other manufacturers.
This means you should expect a price tag of under $129 - which is how much the AirPods 2 cost right now.
It is not excluded that the Lite will be based on the second generation of basic AirPods.
Also, Apple may not release a new model at all, but simply reduce the price of AirPods 2 once again - for example, to $ 99.
This will be cheaper for the company than developing and producing an entirely new product
